Currently Research associate at IIT Madras working on the development of biodegradable additives for sustainable packaging applications. With a background in Industrial Biotechnology from one of India's prestigious institutions, Anna University she has gathered experience working under several established scientists in the field of biotechnology namely, Dr. P. Gautam (PhD from IISc), Dr. Anuradha Dhanesekaran (HOD, Anna University), Dr. G. Krishnamoorthy (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) and Dr. M.S Swaminathan (Father of Green Revolution) himself. In addition, her research at the National University of Singapore (NUS) under Dr. Suresh Valiyavettil, on the extraction and biofunctionalization of cellulose from agricultural wastes elicited promising results for bio-filters. She has also published several articles in top international peer-reviewed journals such as â€œRenewable and Sustainable Energy Reviewsâ€ and â€œJournal of Cleaner Productionâ€. Further, her industrial working experience as the R&D Head gave her expertise in development of biodegradable enzyme additives for converting petrochemical plastics into eco-friendly commodities. Above all, with her personal background of coming from a business family on the lines of plastic recycling and sustainability; she adds value in strategic market targeting combined with her technical expertise in the field of biotechnology.
